Arun
Thai Natural™ is a registered trademark owned by
a private Thai company, Vitality |
|
Zone Co.,
Ltd, which is owned by Krittanan Marit (known as Nui by
friends and family) and Marike van Breugel, his
Dutch-born-Australian-raised-now-Thai- resident wife.
The same blend of East meets West can be seen in their
gorgeous little daughter, Kawisaraa, (nicknamed “Nong
Ploi” as per local custom).
Unlike most Thai family businesses, our company is fully
registered with all the relevant Thai government
offices, which ensures rapid customs exit procedures for
goods as they leave Thailand and minimum import duty for
our customers.
|

“Nong Ploi loves to visit her Papa at the Sunday
Tapae Market.” |
Because we are registered for VAT and employ all our
staff legally, we are proudly transparent and quite
happy to provide detailed receipts, invoices and the
relevant paperwork that makes it all so much easier for
our international customers. We are able to supply the
documentation required for importation into countries
like France and Japan, and are also able to meet all the
requirements for goods to be imported tax free under
Free Trade Agreements. |
|

“Naa, our
Arun Thai Production Manager, hard at work.” |
“The possibility of integrating life and family and work
with sunshine, laughter, ancient traditions and
spirituality was actually why I came to live in
Thailand”, says Marike. “And that is tangibly reflected
in Arun Thai Natural”.
“I am proud that the things my parents and grand-parents
have known all their lives in their small Thai village
and which Thai people think are nothing special are so
interesting to Western people”, says Nui.

Family business means different things to
different people. To us it means care for the people who
work for us – whether it is one of our suppliers or a
Burmese refugee who works in our packing room. Our
family business supports other extended family business,
like our herb-growing farmers in Chiang Dao. |
“Family business” means we all have to be
flexible and work hard when orders have to be
finished for shipping deadlines – and that we
relax and laugh together when they’re done, when
there are special holidays or Buddhist festivals
or just to pick the enormous 15kg jackfruit
hanging in the tree out the front that is
threatening to fall through the roof just as the
rainy season starts. And “family business” for
us means “Fair Trade” in every sense of the word
– that all the people that are part of our
supply and production chain are fairly paid and
able to support and sustain their own families. |

“Marike and Ploi having a fun, reconnecting
moment.” |
